Breakfast with Amarula under the Marula Tree

  • June 22, 2017 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

The winter months are the perfect time for an outdoors bush breakfast. A special experience under the marula tree, just after your early morning game drive.

Amarula under the Marula Tree

Staff singing

Winter time in Madikwe. No clouds in the sky. No rain in sight, for many weeks. Starlit nights. An absolute silence which is occasionally interrupted by a roaring lion. A bitter cold welcomes you to a new day when you walk to the reception area. A hot coffee is just right. When sipping a cup a scrub hare hops along. It does not mind the cold.

Wool blankets and hot water bottles are ready on the seats. Soon everybody is ready to go, well wrapped in when the engine is started. The first rays of sunshine appear with warm, yellow light on the horizon. A fantastic day in the African bush begins. The temperature is rising every minute. The many layers are no longer needed. Is there anything more beautiful than such a spectacular winter morning in the African bush?

Back in the lodge, the sun is high in the sky. Just a perfect setting to enjoy the peace and freedom in this wild environment. There is no better time to embellish the bush experience with a welcoming outdoor breakfast.

In the shade of a large marula tree, somewhere out there, where there is neither noise nor air pollution, the buffet is prepared. A wide selection of cold dishes is beautifully displayed. Meat, a selection of cheese, smoothies, croissants, cereals, fresh fruit juices.

Rhulani's chef, with a white hat and a charming smile, welcomes the guest in his mobile kitchen. What would you like to have for hot breakfast? There are omelets with delicious fillings, fried eggs, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs.

The cheerful singing of Rhulani's employees rounds off your special experience. And maybe, before you go, may we invite you for a glass of Amarula?
