Winter time, dry season, and so, high season for one of the greatest natural hazards lurking in the African bush: a bush fire. A few days ago we were once again reminded of this danger when we saw smoke and a sea of flames on the horizon. The thrill and the potentially destructive power was managed perfectly with professionalism and the South African composure for such situations and the fire was brought under control.

In the midst of the busy winter season, our spa therapist team completed a refresher course led by the trainer from Africology, our product supplier. We are pleased to welcome Evonciah as a new member to the spa team, by which we can ensure the massage and treatment offer in Rhulani with three therapists.

Have you ever wondered what happens out in the bush when night falls and you go to sleep? We have set up a permanent camera in front of the waterhole at Rhulani Safari Lodge where we can keep track of the night’s activity. Look what we’ve discovered in the past two weeks!

The timing was good and the situation urgent: during Rhulani’s quieter period before the start of the winter months, our team helped carry out much-needed repair work at the Secondary School in the nearby village of Supingstad. A defective roof was removed, eliminating a significant safety hazard, and the grass was cut so the children can enjoy playing football again.

A few years have passed since we produced a series of wonderful videos and photos of Rhulani Safari Lodge together with Julia, “Miss Supernational 2012” of Denmark. A lot has changed since then. New services, increased quality, especially in the Food & Beverage Department, and a new great underground hide at the watering hole. Time to do new film shootings with Julia. The recent visit to Rhulani by the well-known Ednah Rosen, author of the award-winning book “Taste of Botswana”, gave our three chefs a new inspiration for exquisite menu creations with a local touch. In addition to what we had learned, Ednah’s energy and enthusiasm also spilled over to us.

Once more we had the privilege to have Mr. Braam West from the South African Butler Academy (SABA) at Rhulani Safari Lodge and confirm that our long term relationship with SABA is a key success factor for us. In this new edition of the traditional training week, in which Rhulani’s owner Marisa also took part, we once again achieved the right mix of inspiration, learning and fun.

Rhulani Safari Lodge today announced it has been recognized by Tripadvisor as a 2023 Travelers’ Choice award winner. The award celebrates businesses that have received great traveler reviews from travelers around the globe on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months. As challenging as the past year was, Rhulani stood out by consistently delivering positive experiences to travelers.
