By the end of March we are at the end of the summer and the rainy season. The weather was pretty crazy, but all our safaris took place, although sometimes not on all the earthy roads of Madikwe and sometimes at unusual times. Our guests enjoyed it anyway. Welcome to our monthly report from the bush.

As our monthly statistics show, February was again a very good month for fantastic wildlife observations. It was striking that the leopard, which is very difficult to spot even by our experienced rangers, could be found with a rate well above average, which made our many late summer guests particularly happy.

In the new year, Rhulani’s Rangers continue to report via meticulous statistics, what we see with our guests on the daily game drives. The Big 5, a major attraction for many guests, were seen with a very high likelihood. Here is the update from the bush of January 2018.

Here is an update for all wildlife lovers, who are following our exciting “Female Cheetah Project”. The three wild cats continue to do well since the release. They are all still alive, hunt, eat, and they have even met with the males. But there are also some challenges…

The month of December is the most special one for our lodge operation. Uncertain weather, rains with the annual density test of our thatched roofs, and then the Christmas and New Year period, which demands a special effort for all of us. We do not want to withhold this photo and the great news: Alasdair found the female cheetah sponsored by Rhulani Safari Lodge with a kill. This is a good sign! The challenging introduction in the Madikwe Game Reserve seems to go very well.

The gate of the boma was opened for the three cheetah females one week before Christmas. Now we are curious how these magnificent animals will live their lives in the Madikwe Game Reserve, in freedom. We show you the first photos right after the release.
