Bush Walk at Rhulani: Experience the butterflies in your stomach

  • September 05, 2014 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

A unique safari experience at Rhulani is enriched by another exciting component starting from the 1st of September. Our guests now have the opportunity to experience an excellent “bush walk” (at an extra charge), in addition to the two daily game drives which are included in our rates.

"For many of our guests the observation of animals out in open vehicle is already placing them in touch with nature. From time to time we have guest who would like to feel the ‘butterflies in the tummy” and ask us to experience the bush on foot without the security of a protective vehicle", says Rhulani’s owner Rolf Steiner. That is why Rhulani finally decided to offer bush walks as an integral part of our excellent service offerings.

The bush walks are conducted by Rhulani's experienced rangers, which have the required qualifications and permission to walk with guests through the reserve. A Ranger guides the group and gives clear instructions, should the moment of an encounter with a dangerous animal arrive.

The wonderful thing of a walk through nature is the opportunity to see things that you might not otherwise notice on a safari such as different animal tracks, a termite mountain, various plants and small animals which are hiding in holes. Guests will not be disappointed if they do not meet a lion or a buffalo as education goes a long way, especially in the bush.

Already on the first day, three Rhulani guests booked a 90 minute walk through the bush. Rhulani's ranger Thomas said after returning: "It was rather quiet today out there. We have seen a few wildebeest, zebras, impalas and three elephants joined us when we returned on our vehicle."
