  • August 24, 2014 | Rolf Steiner

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Madikwe is a game reserve that is by its size and diversity, a unique place for an unforgettable safari experience. Accordingly, it is also important to monitor the wildlife and protect it.

Rhino notching at Rhulani

In today's episode we find ourselves with Rolf in the midst of the bush and in full action. Rhulani has organized a very special day for our guests, to give them insight into the conservation activities of the park. We have found a young black rhino, which now is measured, registered and gets marks in its ears, in order to protect it from illegal poaching. Learn in this chapter more about the importance of "rhino notching".

“People are not going to care about animal conservation unless they think that animals are worthwhile.” – David Attenborough, Naturalist

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 7 September 2014, where we are ready to go for a game drive and listen to the safety instructions from our field guide.
