Rhulani Insights 016 - Game views: a herd of impalas

  • October 05, 2014 | Rolf Steiner

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Madikwe Game Reserve impresses with its diversity of animals, plants, and its natural beauty. Many of our guests realize only when they are here with us, and when they can fully immerse themselves in the environment, that the safari experience is much more than the search for the "Big 5" animals.

Game views: a herd of impalas

We continue on our afternoon game drive and meet a herd of Impalas. These elegant antelopes are usually not the main reason why our guests book a safari, even though these animals are very elegant, have a nice pattern, and a unique bounce. Impalas belong to the so-called "General Game". Often our guests do not ask our ranger to make a stop.

This is a pity. Rhulani's rangers have such a broad experience in the bush that they can actually tell a fascinating story about many little details, which makes the safari experience even more special. Join Rolf for this new episode, and learn from Chris more about the social structure of impalas and how they live together in breeding herds.

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 19 October 2014, when we find an impressive male lion sleeping in the grass.
