Rhulani Insights 095 – Rhulani’s snake catcher in action

  • August 05, 2018 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

On a beautiful, sunny morning, a sand snake rests in the warm stones of our lounge. Although it is completely harmless, we do not want to have this animal with us, and so our so-called "snake catcher" is used. This is the topic of today’s episode.

It is no secret that snakes occur on a safari in the African bush. You almost never see them, as these shy reptiles hide from humans and perceive their vibrations before we even see them.

Should we find a snake in the lodge, like it is the case today, our so-called "snake catcher" will be used. We carry the animal back out into the bush. In today's blog Rolf tries for the first time to use this device, and takes a 1 meter long sand snake out of our lounge area.

“Every great story seems to begin with a snake.” – Nicolas Cage, actor

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 19 August 2018, when Rolf shows you Rhulani’s new entrance sign.
