Rhulani Insights 127 – Digging for water

  • October 27, 2019 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

"Water" is one of Madikwe's biggest challenges, for humans, animals and also for the operation at Rhulani Safari Lodge. Constantly we are looking for new springs or veins of underground water to pump it from so-called "boreholes" into our water tanks. Just recently we have started a new search and have found a promising place, in the middle of our lodge area.

If and how much water this new source provides, and if this will remain constant for a long time, nobody knows. But as we see in today's blog with Rolf and Riaan, we actually found water right next to the Leisure Room. It’s a good start!

Riaan tells us more about “water”, and he shows us the location of the new borehole at the time when it was not yet connected to the piping system.

“When the well is dry, they know the worth of water.” – Benjamin Franklin, American Politician

Stay tuned for the next episode on Sunday 10 November when we have a chat with Sean at Inkwe pan, which is the watering hole closest to Rhulani
