Rhulani Insights 138 – When the cheetah was calling

  • March 29, 2020 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Today we are experiencing a special moment (which was captured before our lockdown). One of the two cheetah brothers recently had a rendez-vous with a female, and he now seems to miss it. He strolls through the savannah and calls for her. His brother is silently following.

So today we see and hear the two cheetahs from a short distance. A great moment where Alasdair tells us more about this supple wildcat and the hope that we will eventually see young cheetahs in Madikwe.

At the time this blog is broadcast, however, we are still waiting for such a joyful event. It would be the first time new-born cheetahs would be seen in Madikwe Reserve.

“When the ancestors of the cheetah first began pursuing the ancestors of the gazelle, neither of them could run as fast as they can today.” – Richard Dawkins, English Scientist

Stay tuned for the next episode on Sunday 12 April 2020 when we show you how we upgrade the bathrooms in our Luxury Family Suite.
