Rhulani Insights 143 – Rhulani's water capacity

  • June 07, 2020 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

The main resources to operate a Safari Lodge are access to electricity and water. Today, with our Assistant Manager Sean, we visit the tanks that contain the water for our daily use.

As you may know, we get the water through so-called "boreholes", from which the water is pumped up from the deep ground.

The tanks that Sean shows us today provide us with a capacity of 60,000 liters, provided that they are all full. This is not always the case in the dry season and with a full camp. So water management is a key priority.

We also collect rainwater to irrigate our gardens and we have additional, independent tanks in case we have to fight a fire.

“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.” – Loren Eiseley, Scientist

Stay tuned for the net episode on Sunday 21 June 2020 when Rolf’s gives an update on the COVID-19 situation at Rhulani.
