On September 23 the South African Tourism Board opened a marketing office in São Paulo, Brazil. Rhulani’s owners Marisa and Rolf, who live in Brazil, are thrilled about this message: “This is fantastic news!”

Brazil has been identified as an important market for the future and for the past year, at Rhulani we have built excellent relations with local tour operators. “The new physical presence of South Africa Tourism in Brazil confirms that there is indeed an enormous growth in this region” said Rolf.

“Of course, we have invited Mr. Nzima to Rhulani” – Marisa Silva, Owner

There was a strong tourist growth of 66.7% from Brazil in 2010 when South Africa hosted the FIFA World Cup. Constant growth for 2011 and 2012 make Brazil one of the most robust of the overseas markets. Brazil is South Africa’s ninth-largest source of incoming tourism. In 2013 there was a growth rate of 5.6% coming from Brazil which reached 82 802, according to statistics.

During a full week of activities, including the office opening, Rhulani was invited to participate at the ceremony of the first "Ubuntu Awards". Marisa had the opportunity to meet the CEO of SA Tourism, Mr Thulani Nzima, in the Hotel Intercontinental of São Paulo. "Ubuntu" is a very specific South African philosophy, meaning that we are all the result of the interaction with each of our partners. "You are what you are because I am what I am".

During a cocktail chat with Marisa, Mr. Nzima was pleasantly surprised to hear that the owners of a safari lodge in his country are living in Brazil. “Mr. Nzima has not yet visited the beautiful Madikwe Game Reserve, thus we have invited him to Rhulani so that he may experience the beauty that is Madikwe” said Marisa.
