Life of a Ranger: Preorbital gland of a klipspringer

Did you know that klipspringer have a small scent gland, called the “preorbital gland”, located in front of each eye, which is used to mark territory and communicate with other individuals? Rhulani’s ranger Thato tells us more about this gland which can be found with other antelopes as well, and we learn that it secretes a sticky, dark substance that the klipspringer deposits on vegetation by rubbing its face against it.
