Seeing a female kudu with a red-billed oxpecker is a great example of mutualism in African wildlife. The oxpecker feeds on ticks and parasites living on the kudu’s skin, helping keep the antelope healthier. In return, the oxpecker gains a reliable food source and may also alert the kudu to danger with its alarm calls.
