Funny everyday life stories from the bush: Rhulani's ranger Alasdair tells us today how he suddenly stood under a giant elephant while he was planting aloes.

“I think one of my funniest moments was back in the days when the electric wire was not working properly at Rhulani. Myself and Sean went to get thirty-four Aloe plants from Supingstad, which is a village nearby. We wanted to use them to make the entrance area of the lodge a bit more colorful.

We were just starting to plant them the very next day, when Bob, a giant elephant, came into camp. We all quite literally stood underneath him telling him to stop eating our aloes and making a mess. By the way, aloes are very expensive!

But Bob just stood there eating the aloe plants whilst we under him were just laughing our faces off.

As a souvenir, I took a photo with my colleague Riaan, along with Bob and our aloes. That's one of my favorites!"
