Rhulani Insights 165 - An Aardvark Hole?

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Coffee break in the morning sun, in the bush, and of course with a sip of Amarula. But today's blog is not supposed to show that leisurely break during the morning safari. There is a fairly large hole very close to our location.

So, let's go there, and let's take a closer look. As our experienced ranger Ralf says, you should always be careful when approaching a hole in the African bush. You never know if a dangerous animal still lives in there.

I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.

- John Burroughs, American Author

That's why we approach the hole from behind. Ralf is pretty sure that it was once an aardvark's hiding place. Although this mammal is rarely seen on safaris, there are quite a few in Madikwe.

Stay tuned for the next episode on 6 June when Ralf presents us his favorite animal: the elephant.
