Rhulani Insights 277 – Dangerous encounter on bushwalk
Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.
We've spent so much time in our previous blog posts discussing the theory behind bushwalking, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the small beauties of the bush and avoiding potential dangers. And now? We've got ourselves into a pickle. We've come across a black rhino mother with her baby. As they say, the exception proves the rule.
Never was anything great achieved without danger.
Luckily, we have our highly trained ranger, Ralf, with us, who can perfectly assess the situation and offer us this special sighting opportunity for a bushwalk. As you may know, a black rhino is one of, if not the most, dangerous encounters on foot in the bush, so we position ourselves at a distance that strikes a good balance between a safe distance and still maintaining visual contact with this magnificent animal.
Today's blog proves that anything is possible in the African bush, and surprises await around every corner. In Ralf's eyes and words, you can see an interesting mix of alertness, nervousness, and above all, joy at this unique situation. Enjoy the moment with us!
Stay tuned for the next episode on 31 May, when we explore the bushwalk as a first-time experience for a guest.
