The week-end of 7/8 November gave Rhulani Safari Lodge the opportunity to present our product to the Italian travel market. As exhibitors we participated at the “IMBIZO 2015”, an event celebrated in the wonderful Villa Erba in Cernobbio near Como.

There is no direct flight from Italy to South Africa anymore, and the economic challenges in the euro area are hitting the statistics of incoming tourism. But the fascination "South Africa" ​​is always present and convinces every year tens of thousands of Italians to visit this beautiful country.

"Imbizo" is the annual event, organized by "South African Toursim", on which Italian tour operators and travel agents receive information on the country and new products. "We are always excited to be here," says Marisa Silva, Rhulani's owner, and she means that Italy is not only important to her from the perspective of the business, but also personally. “We lived in Italy in the past, and we like this country and its people.”

"It is difficult to measure to what extent our presence here impacts on our sales," says Marisa. "But one thing is certain: This is our favorite event in the annual plan, because the Italians know best how to organize such an event, at a spectacular location, and generating a pleasant atmosphere". So, it is the perfect mix between business and leisure.

Imbizo took place at the beautiful Lake Como in Cernobbio, in the noble "Villa Erba". The approximately 200 participants were divided into two groups over two days. Cristina Secco, Trade Relations Manager of South African Tourism, started with a presentation about South Africa in the big hall. Rhulani had the opportunity to present the product in a 10 minute presentation and answer individual questions later at the table. There was also free time and good food with glorious autumn weather.

"For us the next Imbizo is already listed again in our agenda," says Marisa after a successful weekend.
