Rhulani Minute Safari - Necking giraffes

  • April 29, 2015 | Rolf Steiner

Another beautiful encounter with necking giraffe's. They come to stand facing in the same direction, body next to body. They begin leaning and rubbing flanks, necks, and heads against one another. One giraffe will swing his neck out to the side and swing it back, making contact with the other's neck. The partner responds with the same kind of neck swing. So ensues the "rhythmical and synchronized dance".
