Two kills in one day

  • January 03, 2019 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

The New Year has started with a bang for our Rhulani guests. On the same day we found two big cats, which killed a prey.

Rhulani’s Ranger Alasdair tells us the following story: Start of the new year we all left after breakfast at 9 am. It was raining a bit and we heard Kwandwe and Monomoholo (two of the big male lions) were found so we all went there and sat with them until they just got up and set about their mission.

We followed them for about twenty minutes until Kwandwe out of nowhere spotted the zebra and he just set off like a missile. So we tried to keep up and in the distance we saw him do some crazy ninja move jump onto the neck of a zebra.

Then Monomoholo joined and started ripping into the zebra whilst Kwandwe choke held. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for them to kill the zebra. It was so epic!

At the same time, Alasdair’s colleague Sean was called into a sighting, quite close to our camp. There was the pack of six wild dogs which had just killed a mid sized female kudu.
