Rhulani Insights 264 – Reverse osmosis system

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge

In today's blog post, which is a little more technical than usual, we visit Rhulani’s new reverse osmosis system located in the backyard of the lodge. This system allows us to produce clean drinking water from borehole water. Our expert, Gabriel from RO Water, explains how the system works and how the various filtration processes take place, all the way until the water is finally stored in the drinking water tanks.

Water is life, and clean water means health.

For us at Rhulani, producing our own drinking water is another step towards improving sustainability, and it aligns perfectly with our commitments as a Travelife certified hotel, as outlined in our annual sustainability plan. Furthermore, the reverse osmosis system enhances our operational independence when it comes to water management, following our previous achievement of energy independence through our off-grid solar power system.

Gabriel introduces us to the reverse osmosis technology and explains the various filtration steps, which are perfectly adapted to the quality of the water from our borehole wells, ensuring that the water stored in our raw water tanks can be safely transferred to the drinking water tanks.

Stay tuned for the next episode on Sunday 30 November when we find a striped yellow-bellied sandsnake in the main area.
