Rhulani Insights 269 – Water saving measures
Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.
A key component of our sustainability goals concerns the management of increasingly scarce water resources. In Rhulani, we draw our water from the earth, from our own boreholes, but today we are with Rolf in one of our luxury guest chalets, checking how well we have implemented certain water-saving measures.
Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.
Did you know, for example, that according to best practice guidelines for global sustainability standards for hotels, there are maximum limits on the amount of water that can come out of a shower, a tap, or even a toilet flushed per minute?
As part of the “Travelife” certification process, which recognizes compliance with global sustainability standards, we have reviewed and verified all these limits at Rhulani. All of this is to ensure that, despite offering a luxurious safari experience where nothing should be lacking, we manage our resources responsibly—a commitment to which you, as our guest, can also contribute.
Stay tuned for the next episode on 8 February with a moment out in the bush with Willem and the analysis of a rhino midden and dung beetles.
