Time with Alasdair for a short, private chat during a break on an afternoon game drive, surrounded by peace and nature. But today, it's not about the sunset or choosing the right drink, but about the elephant that's not far away and the potential danger it poses.
I knew that by getting behind the wheel of the car and having had something to drink, the responsibility laid on my shoulders.
Sundowners are carefully and thoughtfully planned by the ranger so that they're enjoyed at sunset, but still in daylight, in a spot with good all-around visibility, little undergrowth, and not right next to a waterhole.
Both are motivated by safety concerns, because nobody wants to be surprised by a dangerous animal while watching the sunset with a glass in hand. But today, Alasdair is setting up the bush bar, knowing that an elephant is nearby. So, what do we do now? Let's listen to Alasdair's take on it.
