Look behind the scenes at Rhulani Safari Lodge.
Diesel is an indispensable resource for the lodge's day-to-day operations. Without diesel, we would have no backup power when the solar system stops generating electricity, nor could we operate the vehicles needed for safaris. Today, Rolf and Willem discuss the importance of diesel, how we manage it at Rhulani, and how we can safeguard our operations during times of potential diesel shortages.
You save most fuel by lifting and coasting in the heavy braking zones at the end of long straights into slow corners.
For instance, when diesel supplies ran low in South Africa earlier this year, we doubled our on-site storage capacity. We also meticulously track diesel consumption and are developing an action plan to further reduce usage—a goal supported by the recent expansion of our solar power system.
Stay tuned for the next episode on 1 November, when we discuss the best season for a safari with Ralf.
