A relaxed young elephant bull in camp

We have done some renovation work in the past few days, so we temporarily cut off the electrical wire around the lodge. A young elephant bull used this opportunity for a short visit to Rhulani.

Rhulani Safari Lodge is an unfenced camp, and all sorts of animals could appear here. An electrical wire should at least protect our lodge from the damage caused by elephants.

Recently, a young elephant was drawn to our garden and the water in the pools. He noticed that our electricity at the wire had been switched off. So the big animal decided to make a short visit.

"The elephant helped us a bit with the gardening," says Rhulani’s Assistant Manager Sean with a smile. The animal ate peacefully on the trees and wandered through the lodge, very relaxed. "He behaved very well so we didn’t chase him away”, says Sean. “He didn't knock over a single pot, didn't drink all of our water, and didn't stand on the wooden deck".

After about half an hour, this unusual tour was over. Our lodge operations then returned to the agenda. The young elephant moved on.
