Rhino Walk in Madikwe: Finally again!

  • September 25, 2022 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Madikwe’s annual event to celebrate the "World Rhino Day" had to be postponed twice due to the Corona crisis, but now it finally took place again last Saturday. The importance of protecting this endangered animal has not changed after the pandemic. Rhulani Safari Lodge participated with all our guests and all were happy to enrich the safari holiday with a unique and unforgettable experience.

Delicious food at Rhulani's stand

Madikwe Game Reserve seems so peaceful, so private and protected, but not even here the rhinos are immune to the danger of poachers. Accordingly, the measures and financial investments to protect rhinos are significant.

So, all guests got an impression of the tireless efforts from the shooting demonstration by the Anti-Poaching Unit.

The day started as early as 4am for Rhulani's employees, who wanted to be ready in time for the start of the event on the other side of the park, with a stall offering lots of delicious food.

Rhulani’s guests, with a brown T-Shirt, also arrived quite early in the morning. In addition to many information stands, there was a walk of about 7 km within the reserve, and one wanted to do that before the great heat of the day. Various information boards and figures along the way illustrated the daily challenge which rhinos are facing.
