SABA Training - Guest experiences in the focus

  • July 25, 2019 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Also this year, we were supported by the International South African Butler Academy (SABA) to consolidate our employees on the five star service standard. This time, the focus was on guest experiences, and a number of new signature services were introduced.

Training Course with SABA at Rhulani Safari Lodge in July 2019

Having been working with SABA for six years and fortunately counting on a stable staff, we have been able to build on what we learned in prior years without having to start again.

Although the intensive training program took place in parallel to the care of our guests in the lodge, our employees accepted this special effort with great joy and willingness to learn. SABA’s lead trainer, Mr. Braam West, ensured that the training was exciting and entertaining. We laughed a lot and our team definitely grew even closer.

We have reached a level at which we not only put the guest in the center, but where we want to create a true "guest experience" at Rhulani. One example is a "Ballet of Service", which after repeated practicing we were able to try out for the first time with our guests at a boma dinner. We received a big round of applause.

Further signature services were introduced, such as a new set-up for high tea before the afternoon game drive. But even more important than the many technical details is the excellent team spirit, which our guests should be able to feel. Undoubtedly, we have achieved this goal, for which we would like to sincerely thank SABA. See you next year again!
