Rhulani Insights 018 - Game views: watching out for animals

  • November 02, 2014 | Rolf Steiner

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

On our afternoon game drive we are looking for other wild animals and learn how an experienced ranger tracks the animals when -how they say- "the bush is quiet".

Game views: watching out for animals

Usually, a game drive in Madikwe is full of wonderful experiences with wild animals, and our guests hope to find them on every corner. But experienced safari visitors also know that a nature reserve is not a zoological garden, and the animals are well spread in this 75,000 hectar big area, and they sometimes hide in the shade of the bushes. This means that the knowledge and the driving skills of an experienced field guide are important factors to track the animals.

In today's episode of Rhulani Insights Chris tells us more about the rules, how to drive through Madikwe's landscape, and in what situations he may even go off-road. Chris tells us also about the secrets of a good tracker in periods when the bush is quiet.

“Nature always wears the colors of the spirit.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson, Essayist

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 16 November 2014, when we take a break in the middle of the bush.
