Rhulani Insights 087 – On the way to Gaborone

  • April 15, 2018 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Do you know which big city is closest to Rhulani Safari Lodge? It is Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. It is located about 40 km from us. This opens up possibilities for an additional city tour, or for an arrival or departure via Gaborone Airport.

In today's blog, Rolf is on the way to Gaborone Airport, and he introduces us to Tendai, the owner of Maroon Safaris. Tendai is our trusted partner, who performs all transfer services as well as excursions in Gaborone for our guests. Especially if you have a longer stay with us, from 4 nights or more, a trip to Gaborone with Tendai could be a nice enrichment to the normal safari program, as you will get a flair of a very peaceful, democratic country.

Please note that you need to think carefully about traveling via Gaborone. The advantage is the short distance to us. The disadvantage, however, is the difficult to calculate waiting time at the border, as well as the operational hours at the customs. Please clarify this with us in advance in order to be able to plan properly your trip.

“Botswana is actually very peaceful. It's democratic. It never was in debt. They've been fortunate, they've had diamonds.” – Alexander McCall Smith, British writer

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 29 April 2018, when we show you our tanks in the staff area which we have installed to collect rainwater.
