Rhulani Insights 050 - The Madikwe mammals

  • July 24, 2016 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Peace, nature, good food - There are several reasons to visit Rhulani. But the most important is of course the beautiful wildlife watching. Rhulani offers two game drives per day for 3 to 3.5 hours. In addition, Rhulani is an unfenced lodge. This means that the animals will pass by us and you can observe them from your room.

But what animals are there? In today's episode Rolf gives an overview of the 65 different species of mammals, which can be found in the Madikwe Reserve. Of course, you do not see all of them, because Madikwe is not a zoo where the animals are observed in a small enclosure. But you will be definitely thrilled of what you will see!

“All mammals undergo a certain degree of diversification. Darwin knew that. When he drew a family tree, it had many branches on it.” – Donald Johanson, American Paleoanthropologist

In your private chalet, you will find an overview map, where you can see the mammals with images, a tick box and a translation in six different languages. This helps if you do not entirely understand the terms in English from your ranger.

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 24 July 2016 when Ernest tells us his story when he suddenly met an elephant.
