Rhulani Insights 216 - Solar Plant Structure
Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.
For a few months now, the energy supply in Rhulani has been ensured by a solar plant. Today let's take a look at the four tables and the structure that supports the solar panels, and let’s have a chat with Kyle, the director of Blockpower.
We learn that it is important not necessarily to generate as much energy as possible, but at to produce electricity at the right moment. This explains why we chose the position of the solar panels in a so-called east-west orientation. At Rhulani we use more electricity in the morning and evening than at midday.
So: let's take a look at the total of 256 solar panels, which are estimated to account for 90% of Rhulani’s total consumption, as well as the aluminum holding structure, which stands on concrete socklets.
Stay tuned fort the next episode on 28 January when ranger Thato shows us the difference between a white rhino and a black rhino midden.
