A Rhulani visit with the “Magnificent Seven”

  • July 01, 2017 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

“You are very lucky if you manage to tick off the ‘Magnificent Seven’". This is a known safari rule. Thanks to excellent rangers at Rhulani we have nevertheless sometimes guests may experience this happiness. But what are the "Magnificent Seven"?

Lion

Cheetah

Wild Dog

There are different ways to define the "Magnificent Seven" of the African bush. But for us in Madikwe, the definition is clear:

  1. Elephant: the largest land living mammal, in Madikwe seen almost on every game drive
  2. Rhinoceros: there is the peaceful, white rhino that was peacefully through the savannah, and the aggressive black rhino, which is very difficult to find
  3. Lion: the king of the bush and the largest predator in Africa
  4. Buffalo: a large African bovine which looks like a domestic cattle but is classified by rangers as one of the most dangerous animals of the bush
  5. Leopard: the elusive and nimble cat, master of camouflage, and one of the most difficult animals to find
  6. Wild dog: one of the the most endangered mammals in Africa, which lives in a pack and thus becomes a killing machine
  7. Cheetah: the lissome, timid predator, known as the fastest land animal

Just recently, Rhuani's guests Sanjay, Sunita & Saumya Soni have found all these wonderful animals on a total of six game drives, and have taken fantastic pictures. Thank you very much for sending them to us!
