INDABA 2016: “Continuity is very important”

  • May 13, 2016 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

From 7 to 9 May Rhulani Safari Lodge participated at the 2016 INDABA in Durban. It was an excellent opportunity to present our beautiful product and promote a fantastic safari in the African bush.

For the third consecutive year we were present with our own stand at INDABA, which is the most important travel trade show in Africa. "Continuity in building reliable business relationships is very important," says Rhulani's owner Rolf Steiner. For him, the travel show was a complete success.

Many solid partners had a chat with us, to discuss our relationship and to make plans for the future. But there was also an increasing number of new tour operators or travel agents from around the world, who were looking for new safari alternatives in malaria-free areas and wanted to have a discussion with us.

"We had 91 meetings spread over three days," says Rolf. The stand was so busy that there was not even time to go to the bathroom. “And the visitors came not only because of our exquisite Nespresso coffee and Swiss chocolate, which we offer every year at our stand".

Rhulanis lodge manager Gerda Kubirske, an experienced South African hotelier, accompanied Rolf. "For me it was already the 13th INDABA", she said. No wonder that many visitors knew Gerda from earlier times.

Our small, pink rubber hippos, which floated in a bowl of water, were one of the attractions at INDABA. This hippo serves as a reminder that water is a precious resource and should not be wasted. For us in the dry Madikwe region, this is of particular importance. “All our guests at Rhulani also get this hippo and can take it home.”
