Rhulani Insights 017 - Game views: a sleeping male lion

  • October 19, 2014 | Rolf Steiner

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

To experience an amazing safari in the African bush is the main goal of most of our visitors, and above all, they hope to discover all of the famous "Big 5": elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard.

Game views: a sleeping male lion

Madikwe is a reserve, which is home to more than 66 mammals, including the Big 5, which per definition are the most dangerous animals you can find on foot. On our afternoon game drive of yoday, we are protected by our vehicle, and we meet an impressive, sleeping lion.

The chance to find lions in Madikwe is relatively large, because the lion population is quite large, and our rangers have a first-class qualiofication and intuition to find the "king of the bush". Watch today's episode and get a feeling with Rolf of how it is when you find yourself suddenly so close to a lion.

“It's better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life.” – Elizabeth Kenny, Nurse

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 2 November 2014, when we are cruising through the bush and learn how a ranger tracks the animals.
