Rhulani Insights 037 – Discussing the rhino situation in Madikwe

  • November 29, 2015 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

The 75,000 hectares of Madikwe Game Reserve is home for a wide diversity of animals. We can find all of the famous "Big 5", including rhinos. Both species which are known in Africa can be found: The white and the black rhino.

On our safaris, it is very likely to meet this imposing animal that seems to originate from prehistoric times. Despite living in this peaceful and protected area, the rhinos of Madikwe are also exposed to great dangers. The park administration is trying by all means to take action against unscrupulous poachers and to ensure the survival of this highly endangered wild animal.

In today's episode of Rhulani Insights we meet a peacefully grazing white rhino. Our ranger tells us more about the rhino situation in Madikwe and the bitter struggle to protect it. Visit us in Rhulani and become an ambassador for this beautiful animal!

“People can have rhinoceros skin, but there's a point when something's going to hurt you.” – Janet Jackson, Singer

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 13 December 2015, when we have a look at Rhulani’s water tanks in the backyard.
