Rhulani Insights 039 - Rhulani is an unfenced camp

  • January 09, 2016 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Rhulani is an unfenced camp. This is in accordance with our motto that we want to abolish all kinds of borders and barriers which could separate our guests from a real experience with nature, and where it is possible to fully immerse themselves in the environment.

Madikwe is a "Big 5" reserve, which means that there are also animals, which must be classified as "dangerous for humans". Thus, as seen from the safety aspect, what does it mean when you are at the lodge, and you do not have a fence, which could protect you from dangerous animals?

“Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do.” – Michel de Montaigne, Philosopher

In today's episode we talk to our ranger Sean about some rules, which our guests have to follow. But we also talk about the beauty of being in harmony with nature, and we learn that the threat level for our guests here is actually smaller than in a big city.

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 24 January 2016 when we take a look at our boma and hear our staff singing.
