Rhulani Insights 056 - An elephant very close

  • November 13, 2016 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of ‪Rhulani Safari Lodge.

Today's blog is dedicated once again to the most beautiful activity you can experience at our lodge: the game drive. Very close to our vehicle we see a big elephant, slowly passing by. He is neither frightened nor aggressive.

How is it possible that we can look at these big, wild animals from such a close distance? Our ranger Sean tells us more generally about the safety in the vicinity of wild animals, and especially about the situation of Madikwe's elephants. Since the elephants are used to the presence of vehicles, and the field guides of the reserve treat the animals with respect, they do not provoke them and give them precedence, an encounter for both sides is unproblematic, and our safari guests can fully enjoy this close encounter.

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 27 November 2016 when we see Rhulani for the first time when it’s raining.
