For many guests the game drives in Madikwe are the biggest highlight. Today's blog is dedicated to a special sighting. Here we are in the middle of a meeting of two of the "Big 5": Elephant and Buffalo.

As always, our ranger Sean gives us background information about Madikwe's wildlife. It is a special event to see two of the most dangerous mammals in the same sighting. In this case the two herds are also unusually large. The number of animals is a rarity even for the 75,000 hectares of the wild reserve of Madikwe. Because of the dryness, one can see that this blog was shot at the end of the winter season, where it is generally more likely that large animal herds gather around the water dams.
