Rhulani Insights 084 – Rhulani's new fire trailer

  • March 04, 2018 | Rhulani Safari Lodge

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

A conflagration, or as we call it here a large-scale "bushfire", is one of the greatest dangers to which we are exposed, especially during the dry season. Accordingly, we have alarm systems in place and equipment ready at any time. Today, Riaan presents you our new fire trailer.

Keeping a bushfire under control is a known activity out here for everyone, and mutual help to protect infrastructure and people is a matter of course.

Accordingly, we have fire extinguishers and horse reels installed in different places of the lodge, as well as for firefighting outside the lodge we have mobile fire extinguishers and fire beaters, with which our trained staff go out when needed.

Another recent purchase is a "fire trailer" on wheels, which can be attached to our vehicles and can quickly bring water to where it is needed. The tank has a capacity of 2,500 liters and can quickly be filled. Riaan tells us more about the importance and the use of the fire trailer.

“People say to me, 'Why don't you fight fire with fire?' You fight fire with water, not fire.” – Alan Colmes, radio & television host

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 18 March 2018 when we show you exactly how our guests are seated on the game drive vehicle.
