Rhulani Insights Special - A new lounge deck for Rhulani

  • January 11, 2015

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge and feel the bush.

From time to time it is necessary to renew our infrastructure. The very special climate out here in the bush, the permanent use of it by our guests, as well as the normal aging process require constant renovation works and investments to keep Rhulani up to date.

In today's episode we visit with Rolf Rhulani during a "Renovations Week", where the camp is closed for our guests. We have a look at how the old lounge deck is completely removed and replaced. This was necessary because in last summer there were strong rains causing bumps, and at various points, the planks were not top quality anymore because of age.

We have a short conversation with our first-class professional Chris Bull, who is frequently busy with construction of this kind in Madikwe since 12 years. We learn more about the particular importance of a proper underground structure of a deck.

“It is not the beauty of a building you should look at; its the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time.” – David Allan Coe, Songwriter

Stay tuned for next episode on Sunday 25 January 2015, where we pay a short visit to Rhulani's curio shop.
