Rhulani Safari Lodge accepted the invitation from South African North West Tourism Board and participated in the Marketing Campaign in Gaborone, Botswana, on November 23. According to Rhulani's owner Rolf Steiner, who was present in person, it was a complete success.

“First of all, we are pleased that the North West Tourism Board is so active in promoting the province to neighboring regions. We do not want to miss such an opportunity”, says Rolf. In fact, about 15 products were present with a presentation table. Moses Molefe from Rhulani’s front of house assisted Rolf this afternoon. North West includes the Madikwe Game Reserve and Rhulani Safari Lodge.

“I was amazed to observe a great interest in this event among the travel agents from Gaborone”, says Rolf. The Conference Center of the Masa Square Hotel hosted over 100 attendees who wanted to inform themselves about options just on the other side of the country border. "Some agents did not know where the Madikwe Reserve is located and were surprised when they realized that we are only 45 kilometers away.” So it was good to do some advertising.

Botswana is a very interesting market for Rhulani Safari Lodge. The country is one of the world's fastest growing economies since its independence in 1966. Tourism is a unique opportunity to further boost economic growth and reduce dependence on the diamond trade. Gaborone is the country’s capital and with around 250’000 inhabitants the largest city in the country, where many internationals and expats settle. Botswana itself has a wealth of wildlife and nature reserves to offer, but if you live in Gaborone, the easiest way to go on a safari is the Madikwe Game Reserve, although you have to cross the nearby border to South Africa.

“All these are reasons that justified our participation”, says Rolf, after the cocktail party. “Too bad that there were only two more Madikwe lodges present. We will definitely be back next year!"
