When a highly professional photographer and an experienced ranger are on safari and discover a giraffe that slips and falls into a waterhole, then a sensational photo story is guaranteed. Enjoy spectacular impressions of an extraordinary sighting in the bush.

Today we find two typical and well-to-find mammals of Madikwe on opposite sides at our nearby waterhole of “Inke Pan”: two white rhinos and 2 Warthogs. We filmed this special sighting from the best position.

Oxpeckers sit on certain mammals and target the ticks and other small parasites found on the skin and in the coats of these animals. Today we are watching red-billed oxpeckers a little closer, sitting on the back of a giraffe.

Did you know that there are many giraffes in Madikwe Game Reserve? Can you see the difference between male and female giraffes? Rhulani’s Ranger Martin tells us about a recent sighting of a journey of giraffes and gives an insight about these wonderful animals.

We do not see so frequently this typical South African animal on our game drives. But the springboks actually do exist in Madikwe Game Reserve! Here we got a nice view of one of these colorful antelopes.

Suddenly we saw three elephants with very different colors, including a very white one. How can that be? Of course there are no elephants with a white skin in Madikwe. It comes from the color of the dust the animal had previously thrown to itself.

Did you know that there is one special species of jackal which you can see in the Madikwe Reserve? Rhulani’s Head Ranger Sean gives us some interesting details today on the beautiful “black-backed jackals” and tells of a recent sighting where so many of these animals have gathered as never before.

The lack of water pose great challenges for us and the animals at the end of winter time. On the daily safaris with our guests we still enjoyed unique game viewing, such as when an elephant chased a leopard away from the waterhole. Welcome to our monthly update from the bush.

In the rising morning sun we discover a not very common animal, which obviously is on a mission. A brown hyena searches purposefully the way through the bush, and we can follow this predator for a while.

You have certainly seen more exciting videos of cheetahs. But still this one is very special for us. Surprisingly, we found the two Phinda brothers together with a female, so “Cheetahs on honeymoon”. That’s what we’ve been waiting for so long!
