On your safari with Rhulani Lodge you might be able to spot Baby Zebras, mini Warthog Piglets, Young Giraffes, Baby Elephants, and more. I decided to do a little series over the next few weeks. Today, we are starting with cute little Lion Cubs.

In December we were disappointed to report about the difficulty to find leopards. Now we have exciting news: The first month in 2017 brought us some fantastic leopard sightings. We even discovered a rarely seen leopard called “Munye”. Here is our January update from the bush.

It’s just a usual day in the “office” for Sean. He’ s taking Rhulani’s safari guests on a morning game drive in Madikwe Game Reserve – and besides spotting Cheetahs and other fascinating wildlife, he finds a Leopard on a Marula Tree. This time it’s “Tsala”, a female Leopard.

For many guests the game drives in Madikwe are the biggest highlight. Today’s blog is dedicated to a special sighting. Here we are in the middle of a meeting of two of the “Big 5”: Elephant and Buffalo.

In Madikwe there are many zebras, from time to time also young animals, which are still unstably standing on the thin legs. But the most beautiful thing is that you can observe these wonderful animals in a very relaxed way. Here we find a small zebra herd in the light of the afternoon sun.

2017 seems to be a great year. I have been at Rhulani Lodge in Madikwe for about 6 weeks, went on about 7 Game Drives (in 2016), which were all great, just did not include any Leopards – as these beautiful creatures are very elusive. Mid of January 2017 I went on Game Drives with Sean again – and he found us a Leopard – twice in 3 days!

Is it a fight, or is it just a game? Today we observe two male impalas that want to find out who is the stronger. For the beautiful horns this is quite a dangerous game!
