As our monthly statistics show, February was again a very good month for fantastic wildlife observations. It was striking that the leopard, which is very difficult to spot even by our experienced rangers, could be found with a rate well above average, which made our many late summer guests particularly happy.

Valentine’s Day is the day of love that was used by a guest couple from Brazil to renew the marriage vows with us. Our guests chose the setting in the midst of the African bush for the special day. Our staff slipped it into local, traditional clothing and painted their faces.

In February, the 17-year-old Maria de la Paz di Bello from Buenos Aires, Argentina - we call her “Pachi” - completes an internship at Rhulani Safari Lodge. She tells us about her experiences in a completely new environment.

It was an urgent request of the reserve, and Rhulani provided quick and unbureaucratic help. In a few wild dogs strange tumors of unknown origin were detected. To be on the safe side, they should be removed surgically and analyzed for a more detailed clarification. The operation took place in the middle of the bush. Rhulani’s Ranger Sean was present with our guests.

In the new year, Rhulani’s Rangers continue to report via meticulous statistics, what we see with our guests on the daily game drives. The Big 5, a major attraction for many guests, were seen with a very high likelihood. Here is the update from the bush of January 2018.
