Did you know that our “Captain Redbeard” Alasdair’s favorite animal is the giraffe? On our safari today, Alasdair has the opportunity to introduce us to this wonderful animal and to tell us why he loves it so much.

Did you know that because of their poor eyesight, rhinos primarily communicate through scenting and hearing. Rhulani’s Ranger Ralf tells us more about male rhinos, which look like a large tank and weigh up to 3,500 kilos.

Today we see Rhulani’s ranger Ralf for the first time on a “Rhulani Insights” blog, and he gets his hands dirty with a wet Dung Beetle Ball.

Did you know that every giraffe (similar to zebras) has a unique, distinctive pattern on the skin? Rhulani’s Ranger Alasdair presents his favorite animal to us today, and in particular describes the male giraffe, which, unlike the females, has no hair on its horns.

Did you know that we have a beautiful leopard near our lodge for a number of years already, which is called “Munye” (the little one) and is now around ten years old? Rhulani’s ranger Ralf tells us more about this amazing big cat and how he likes it to walk long distances through different territories.

“When Alasdair and I decided to go on a little tour today, he made a joke,” says his Ralf. Both are experienced rangers at Rhulani. “Now we are going to find a male lion that eats a buffalo”. Laughter. Here we go…

“The north of the park is very wet and some of the roads are closed because of the good rain we had, so we decided to work on the southern side,” says Ralph, Rhulani’s field guide. A good choice, because actually a lot of different animals are currently gathering there. So Ralph found the Cheetah mother with the four little ones who had killed an impala. An absolute highlight.

Now that the rainy season in Madikwe begins with summer, the soil on the ground is getting more humid and season of our beloved Dung Beetles can start again. Rhulani’s Head Ranger Sean is following a Dung Beetle couple at the lodge as they roll a ball through the savannah on their honeymoon.

During the quiet lunchtime Ralf made a tempting plan for the afternoon drive. “I will find him!” he said with a smile on his face. He was referring to Munye, a beautiful leopard that is not very shy but is still not easy to find. Ralf had got a tip from other guides where to find the dangerous big cat. With his keen sense and experience, Ralf had no doubt. This drive will be a success.

Sean was cruising through the savannah, with no special goal, just looking what he could find. It was near the West Airstrip, when a guest on the vehicle said: “Hey, isn’t there a cheetah?
