Beautiful wildlife viewing and a pleasant, autumnal climate accompanied us through the month of April. Two big cats, lions and leopards, provided an absolute highlight, that one encounters only very rarely. Welcome to our monthly report from the bush.

For many guests of Rhulani Lodge, a safari with us is a «once in a lifetime experience». You see so many unique, new and amazing things as you would not have imagined before. At the same time, one wonders whether the experienced ranger, who drives you through the African bush, perceives all this just as a boring routine, or whether he is fascinated again and again by the wonders of nature. The second is the case. And there are very unique sightings for them as well, as it happened two days ago.

An elephant bull walks straight and determined through the savannah. Where is he going? Aha, he knows exactly where he will get a refreshing mud bath. He goes to a hidden elephant spa!

The two lions, a male and a female, are currently in the mating phase, are always staying close to each other. And they can also roar wonderfully in a duet - listen!

On a recent occasion, and with many thanks to our recent guests, Elias & Sarah Ambühl, we are showing you some unusual sequences of two leopards, mum and cub, where one of them is jumping agile on the tree to join the other.

Once again, Rhulani Safari Lodge supported a conservation activity yesterday to protect the endangered rhinos. For our guests, this has become an unexpected, educational enrichment of their safari holidays. But the long, exciting day also made headlines for another reason.

It is a special moment when we find a big lion male, who is on a walk through the bush, and whom we can join for a while. Alasdair is following this lion, and so we hear him when all of a sudden he starts to roar - Look at listen!

By the end of March we are at the end of the summer and the rainy season. The weather was pretty crazy, but all our safaris took place, although sometimes not on all the earthy roads of Madikwe and sometimes at unusual times. Our guests enjoyed it anyway.
