Time flies fast. What a boring statement. But all the more exciting is our project, called “Rhulani NEXT”, with which we keep the lodge in good shape, adapting it along with the modernization, but also making sure that we leave the “look & feel” that is appreciated by our guests. In a further stage, which has just been concluded, our designer from Flipswitch Interior Design, Heather Macquisten, did an excellent job again. Have a look!

The “Local Village Tour” is an add-on to the luxury safari experience where you get a an insight into the life of a local community. This offers you another inspiring and totally different facet along your journey. That was also the case with our recent guests, Dominik Kohler and his family from Switzerland. Months later, the lasting memories brought two new footballs to the local primary school.

We often get questions from concerned guests about how secure the power supply is during a safari stay in Rhulani, mainly because South Africa is now shut down for a few hours every day and the word “load shedding” has become known worldwide. In Rhulani, however, we have ensured safety and stability through an amazingly simple method: electricity thanks to biogas on the basis of elephant dung.

Our funny ranger Alasdair, also known as “Captain Redbeard”, tells us another of his recent funny anecdotes. That afternoon he was roaming through nature, and the conversation with his bird-interested guests turned to the “Brown Snake Eagle”. Why is this bird called that? Not even once in his life our experienced Alasdair has seen this bird with a snake in its.

On fairly short notice we were informed by Parks Management that a collar was due to be replaced by one of the Cheetah females and we could give support. Of course, we said “yes”. So the safari routine was converted into a long, exciting and magical day for all of us, with a lot of new things to learn about conservation and the touch of a fascinating wild cat.

What a year is coming to an end! Hard to beat when it comes to events. Right from the start we feared for our future with the new Omicron virus, and who would have thought that we would still be able to end Christmas and the New Year with a full lodge and happy guests celebrating with us. Tonight the time has come: There will be a new FIFA Soccer World Champion. In Rhulani we followed this World Cup with our guests and are looking forward to an exciting final between Argentina and France.

Two months have passed since the glorious success at the 2022 World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA). We are still celebrating winning the title of “Best Luxury Bush Lodge - Global Winner”.
