Tonight the time has come: There will be a new FIFA Soccer World Champion. In Rhulani we followed this World Cup with our guests and are looking forward to an exciting final between Argentina and France.

Two months have passed since the glorious success at the 2022 World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA). We are still celebrating winning the title of “Best Luxury Bush Lodge - Global Winner”. We have just received the video from the organizers of the WLHA, on which Rhulani’s owner Rolf Steiner sends greetings and thanks from the gala ceremony to all our employees, friends, partners and family. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Shade-Leigh Wepener and Sean Townsend to the management team of Rhulani Safari Lodge. Both have many years of successful experience in the safari business and are well-known in the Madikwe Game Reserve. Accompanied by the joy of our guests as well as the employees, we are opening now a new chapter in Rhulani’s story.

We’ve done it again: The annual evaluation by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) reveals that we continue to be solidly positioned in the 5-star category. The report specifically mentions how well we have weathered the COVID-19 pandemic and how a dedicated management team continues to strive for service excellence, making everyone’s visit memorable.

Rhulani’s ranger Alasdair, also known as “Captain Redbeard, is, according to our guests who have seen him, one of the funniest and most passionate field guides you can meet in South Africa. And funny things is what happens with Alasdair from time to time. But everything in the right order. Alasdair tells the story.

Madikwe Game Reserve has just announced that the Guest Conservation Contribution - formerly known as «Conservation Levy» - will be adjusted effective 1 March 2023. The new daily fee will be ZAR 190 for adults and ZAR 95 for children younger than 12 years.

It is not easy for predators to catch prey in the wild. They need a good strategy, be silent, patient, fast and they also need a bit of luck. After a successful kill the fight is not over. The prey must be protected against other predators. Rhulani’s ranger Willem tells us the story of a recent excursion with guests where he saw how difficult it is even for lions to retain a wildebeest they had hunted successfully.

A few days ago, Rhulani Safari Lodge managed to celebrate a great success at the “World Luxury Hotel Awards”. Rhulani’s owner Rolf received the award for the world’s best Luury Bush Lodge at the Gala Ceremony in Antalya/Turkey.
